Laura and Berwyn (Bez to his friends) are a couple based in England. Laura was born in the West Midlands, Berwyn is proudly from North Wales! Both had taught on and off since their teenage years, but decided to formally start careers as English teachers in 2020. Laura and Bez both completed TEFL certifications and started teaching 1-to-1 English (and Welsh!) lessons online. 

 

Once Laura and Bez entered the English language teaching world, Laura realised that she could use her video making skills and her teaching ability to start a Youtube channel that teaches English in a way that is fun, light-hearted and practical! The first videos were published to the 'Smashing English' YouTube channel in the Summer of 2020. Berwyn took on the producer role, taking on a huge amount of the organisation and running of the channel, expanding Smashing English to wider projects such as email and video courses.

 

Together, their skills mean that they work quite harmoniously together, running 'Smashing English' whilst also teaching 1-to-1 lessons every week. They love thinking of new ways to make the English language accessible, fun and hopefully not intimidating!
